DRACULA 2000 Gerard Butler, Christopher Plummer, Jonny Lee Miller, Justine Waddell, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Esposito, Omar Epps, Sean Patrick Thomas In the millennium version of this classic Gothic horror we find Abraham Van Helsing (Plummer), who has tangled with Count Dracula (Butler) in the past, working as an English antiques dealer. Simon (Miller) is a vampire hunter in training under his apprenticeship. Van Helsing and Simon travel from London to New Orleans to rescue Van Helsing's daughter Mary (Waddell) from the family's life long nemesis - Dracula. Backed with a great soundtrack (with some old friends of mine in JAR), this movie isn't too bad. Dracula is not your regular Dracula in this movie - but to my surprise ended up being a version of one of my theories years ago - of being Judas (the on who betrayed Jesus - not bad for an 9 year old eh?). This would explain why he is afraid of crosses & silver (the coins that fell at Judas feet while he hung himself, the payment for betraying Jesus). Again, not the greatest version of the myth, but has some interesting tiny plots to it. And if you are a Hyde fan from that 70's show, you will like the fact Danny Masterson is in it. Also you Star Trek Voyager fans will probably like Jeri Ryan's character, especially when she turns into a blood sucker.

John Carpenters Vampires 1998 James Woods, Daniel Baldwin, Thomas Ian Griffin, Sheryl Lee, Maximillian Schell, The church has long known that vampires exist. However, it is discovered that a group of vampires are searching for a powerful doom for mankind. The Vatican then secretly enlists a team of vampire-hunters, led by Jack Crow, to hunt down and destroy the vampires before they find the crucifix. James Woods is a smart ass vampire killer, with some neat tools. If it wasn't for him, this movie would probably be pretty boring. Again plot is somewhat interesting, and the ending very predictable.

Vampires - Los Muertos 2002 Jon Bon Jovi (no we are not kidding), Cristian de la Fuente, Natasha Gregson Wagner, Darius McCrary, Arly Jover, Semi-sequel to 'John Carpenter's Vampires' . In Mexico, another vampire slayer, Derek Bliss (Jon Bon Jovi), is hired by a shady priest and aided by a group of fellow slayers in finding a large nest of 'suckers' and their powerful leader, a vampire princess (Arly Jover). She is seeking a legendary black crucifix -- the same crucifix used unsuccessfully in the first movie to perform a ritual which will enable vampires to walk in sunlight and be invulnerable. I liked the characters in this one a bit more than Vampires, but the Vampires in this one - excuse the pun - sucked. Very boring, and for one, was wanting the 'wanted dead or alive' singer to stake em.

NICK KNIGHT 1989 (TV - dvd) Rick Springfield, Allison Barron, Al Berry, David Byrd, Richard Fancy This was the pilot movie to Forever Knight - When a dead body drained of blood shows up at the museum and an ancient Mayan goblet is missing, Nick knows that his former master and nemesis, Lacroix is to blame. Nick is a vampire and it was the evil Lacroix who made him a century ago. The stolen goblet holds the key to releasing Nick from his curse. My opinion, too bad that Rick Springfield didn't keep this role - he brought a sexy attitude, brooding with pain, that the actor that took over couldn't. Entertaining, and some funny moments. Including the fact he tries tanning beds, and sleeps in the trunk of his old Cadillac.
